Print Methods
Which Method
Is Right For You?
A quick guide to DTG, Embroidery, and DTFlex — what each one's good at, and how to pick the right one for your design.
DTG
Direct-To-Garment
Ink is printed straight onto the fabric — best for full-colour designs, photos, and gradients. Soft to the touch, sits into the fabric rather than on top of it.
- Best for: detailed, multi-colour artwork
- Fabric: cotton and cotton blends
- Feel: soft, breathable print
Embroidery
Stitched Thread
Your design is stitched directly into the fabric with thread — a premium, textured look that holds up to heavy wear. The go-to for hats and polos.
- Best for: logos, simple shapes, small text
- Fabric: hats, polos, jackets, heavier fabrics
- Feel: raised, durable texture
DTFlex
Direct-To-Film Transfer
Design is printed onto a film, then heat-pressed onto the garment. Works across nearly any fabric — including ones DTG can't handle, like performance wear.
- Best for: bold colours, performance fabrics
- Fabric: cotton, polyester, blends, athletic wear
- Feel: slightly raised, vibrant colour
Not sure which one fits your design?
As a rule of thumb: photos and gradients → DTG. Logos on hats or polos → Embroidery. Bold designs on performance or blended fabrics → DTFlex. If you're still not sure, send us your logo and we'll recommend the best fit.
